Let's Cook - Chisoso Chotendera (Traditional African Vegetable)

Hello everyone, it has been a minute. Got caught up in work but I'm back now. Today we will be cooking Chisoso Chotendera, this is basically Blackjack cooked with groundnut flour. It is delicious! My Mum says back in the village when she was growing up, this was considered meat - at least to her...not sure it would be the same for me LOL meat is meat. Blackjack,  Bidens pilosa  is a cosmopolitan weed, originating from South America and common in all tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Minibus Tales

One of those days when you leave the office super tired and you just want to get home to your bed and take a much needed breather.  I was having one of those days and all I thought about was how bad I wanted to be at home, 1700 hours was taking its sweet time coming and I was getting crankier by the minute. The blame could only be mine anyway, I had slept in the wee hours of that morning because I couldn't tear myself away from watching all 14 episodes of Single Ladies Season 2 so I only got 4/5 hours of sleep (btw I love my sleep so that was very little for me). Waking up was a mission but I consoled myself with the hope that maybe that day was not going to be so busy and I could get some shut eye during my lunch break.  That. Didn't. Happen. I rushed down to the usual bus stop to get my ride back home and there seemed to be a few minibuses that day, people were scrambling to get on them. No. I was not going to scramble with the crowd. My bad mood could not get a...

Sudden Love for Coffee

I have always loved the aroma of freshly brewed coffee but I never liked the taste. Not one bit. I'd force myself to drink it and end up feeling nauseous half way through. I felt offended even if someone just mildly suggested I have some...."I knew you never wished me well." is what I would be telling the person in my head. At work we always had two options: Tea or Coffee and if there was no tea, I'd go with nothing and slowly starve lol I have always loved tea. Whether it is freezing cold or scorching hot, I love me some tea. This love of tea angered my sister's when I was younger as I would wake up every day at 5a.m with a huge hunger/longing for tea and if tea was not by my bedside, I would cry bloody murder till my Dad woke up one my sisters to make me that cup. It took me a while but I grew out of it - thank God for older siblings :) When I started work, I was brought into a new world of coffee. My new employers loved it, not the instant coffee, the one you b...

The Boyfriend List

I was going through a journal of mine when I came across something I wrote some few years ago. I had titled it "My Boyfriend List" and when I read through it, I laughed at some of the things I wrote but some of things, well, I'd still maintain. I think everyone has their own list of someone they would like to be with. Whether you take the time to write it down or it's just there in your head, but you still have it. Here goes mine: Christian. Non negotiable. Tall. Or at least my height Someone who respects me Smart. I like brainy guys. Like very brainy guys #Nerds. Something about nerds... Funny. I want someone who can crack me up, who has a sense of humor. Employed / Looking for a job. Hardworking He needs to like children. Someone who dresses well. Thank you. Eats well. I understand some diseases are hereditary but to actually go looking for them is just plain ridiculous. Someone who takes care of himself. Personal hygiene. Someone who understands sarca...

Just For laughs

I love having a good laugh and they say laughter is the best medicine, right? Right. A few weeks ago I posted a resignation letter on my facebook page, one that i had fun writing because it made me laugh and it was fun to write. I got a few people calling me up asking how I could do that?! (lighten up people...I'm just exercising my writing skills lol). I did not hand that in to my seniors, I don't think I'd have the strength to. I'd feel bad about it. So here it is, I decided to publish it because I'm still liking the composition =) and I can. Dear Boss, I quit! Also i can honestly say i am ecstatic about leaving this company.Your company sucks and your conditions are terrible. I don’t like the work, I don’t like my fellow employees, and I don’t like you. I am tendering my resignation effective immediately and I’m heading for the open road. Watching you bounce and parade around the office pretending to know what you were doing was mor e nauseating than my stomach c...
